Save CA's Gender-Neutral Marriage bill

(Stealing this from [info]lostgrlblu)

- Help Save Gay Marriage -

California Gov. Schwarzenegger's office is accepting calls from anywhere regarding their marriage equality bill. It passed both houses of their legislature, but needs the Governor's approval. It's all automated, so you don't have to talk to anyone.

Follow these directions:
1. Call the Governor: 916-445-2841 (This number is listed at www.governor.ca.gov)
2. Push: 2 (voice your opinion on legislation)
3. Push: 1 (gender-neutral marriage bill - Senate Bill 849)
4. And push: 1 to support marriage equality

You can also email the Governor at this email adress - governor@governor.ca.gov.

Please make your voice heard. Even if it doesn't do pass, it is still better to take a few seconds to try and voice your opinion. Every little bit helps, do not stand by and let equality disappear. Please, it takes only a few seconds and means so much.

In a coincidental tie-in, I was just on Yahoo! Movies and I found out there's a new movie, coming out in December, with Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger starring as two cowboys in love. !!! 1. Awesome! But 2. South Park was right, what is it with gay cowboys? Surely you remember the independent film festival episode. ("Let's eat pudding and explore our sexuality.") And then that 7 Seconds book or whatever it was called (ok, only Kendra and Amy know what I'm talking about here, and [info]thirdbird), and now, Brokeback Mountain continues the proud tradition.

Anyway, for some reason last night I dreamt about the movie, and actually I dreamt about watching it, here on a TV at school, and it confused the heck outta me because it's not supposed to be out for three months, and I knew that, yet I was watching it. It was trippy, man.

Guess what? The number's busy! Shocking, I know. Sigh. I'll keep trying though.

I saw that trailer, and I heard it was actually a good movie. I'll be shocked, but pleased if it is. (That 7 Seconds book sucked though.)

Third time the charm. I tried again and it worked. Thanks.

Come on. You know you love 7 Seconds.

It looks like it could be good. I kinda want to see it. I like Jake Gyllenhaal. Heath Ledger is rather disappointing-looking in the trailer though. I really liked him in 10 Things I Hate About You but haven't really seen anything with him since. It better have a better ending than 8 Seconds though. WTF was that. I'm still bitter.

And thanks for calling! Love your thumbs-up icon.

I love to make fun of it, you mean. It's good material for mocking.

It does. I heard it won some awards in Europe. Those sassy Europeans and their acceptance of gays. Yeah, I like Jake; Heath is kind of whatever for me. And make up your mind, was it 7 or 8 Seconds? Either way, it SUCKED.

Oooh. I love it too! I use it waaaaay too much. Heh. And just for that, I'll give you pirate icon.

Re: Pudding, [info]trwhiplash said the same thing to me last night. He will be pleased to know that it was the same thing that you thought of. Anyway, I'd totally go see it, if only to continue the hilarity of that book.

Well really, how can you not think of that episode? Do you mean to tell me that you didn't? I secretly suspect that South Park established the paradigm* of the cowboys exploring their sexuality and all these other gay cowboys are just ripping them off.
I want to see it. I think it will let you down if you hope for the hilarity of the book... if its ending sucks as much, though, I'm going to be seriously ticked off.

*Paradigm is a word I have been hearing way too much of lately, and every time a professor refers to something as a paradigm, I have to hold back a snicker, because just about the only context I have ever encountered the word "paradigm" before was a Dilbert cartoon where they make fun of it. You know the one - someone is talking about someone being a paradigm (probably the PHB), and someone explains to someone else that "paradigm," essentially, means nothing, it's just a jargon word people throw around to sound smart. And then the comic ends with him explaining something completely senseless by saying, "It's a new paradigm," and everyone nods like they know what he's saying... Yeah. That's what "paradigm" makes me think of.

No, I thought of the cowboys and pudding thing too, but I heard about the movie a long time ago.
Yeah, I'm not expecting hilarity really, but I am curious to see how the subject is handled.

Paradigm is such an academia word. It drive me nuts. It's up there with organic.

Ha, yeah, when I heard about the Gay Cowboy Movie I assumed at first that someone had made a movie of that silly book.

I still cannot believe Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal are going to make out on the big screen. I am going to be grinning like a fool in the movie theatre the entire time.
